DeviceNet Option

DeviceNet is a low-cost communications link based on the reliable CAN technology, to interconnect industrial devices (such as switches, photoelectric sensors, valve manifolds, motor starter, process sensors, panel displays, operator interfaces, etc…) via a single network.

This technology is used extensively in the U.S., Austrailia, New Zealand, Japan, China, and is rapidly gaining popularity in the European region.

The DeviceNet option for the X-Analyser means that users can view raw CAN data, engineering signals and the DeviceNet interpretations, all within X-Analyser’s intuative graphical user interface.

The DeviceNet awarenesss feature will allow the user to configure the following viewing options: -

Receive / Monitoring Features

  • Observe DeviceNet messages (up to 1’000’000 messages buffered in RAM to ensure best performance).
  • Observe and filter messages by node ID and message type (SDO, PDO, NMT, Emergency, Sychronisation, etc…)
  • CAN Error Frame

Controller Simulation / Transmit Features

  • Transmission triggering – Key, Cyclic (1 ms), Upon Recieved CAN ID
  • Error Frame Injection – Key Triggered
  • DeviceNet bus record and playback feature
  • DeviceNet oriented message builder
  • Text file based transmiter files – User definable

Engineering Signal Interpretation

  • View DeviceNet data as temperature, motor torque, etc… (Text and Graphical)

DeviceNet Scan

  • Displays the activity status of DeviceNet nodes.
  • Gives a quick glance for a DeviceNet network and locates possbile defects (lost connections and error reponses for example). This user- friendly feature is designed for non-DeviceNet experts.

DeviceNet Diagnostic Centre

  • Gives detailed descriptions about selected DeviceNet messages and suggests some possbile errors. This feature is for advanced DeviceNet users.

Filter Data – Filter by:

  • MAC ID
  • I/O Message: Polled, Bit-Strobed, COS/Cyclic, Multicast
  • Explicit Message: Group 2 (M/S), Group 3 (UCMM)
  • Unconnected Message: Group 2 (M/S), Group 3 (UCMM), Group 1(UCMM)
  • Duplicate MAC ID
  • Off-line Comm

DeviceNet Message Builder

The DeviceNet message builder is an extremely useful tool for use during the commisioning of DeviceNet networks, or the testing of DeviceNet-compatable equipment. It allows the user to emulate DeviceNet messages.

The user can specify:

  • Message group (using the tabs at the top of the screen)
  • CAN interface channel (1 or 2)
  • Explicit or I/O connection
  • Message body format
  • Message fragmentation type
  • Whether the message is a request or a response
  • Specific information about the message:
  • Source
  • Destination MAC address
  • Message ID
  • Service Code
  • Class
  • Instance
  • Attribute
  • Any additional data
